花東學生棒球與原住民

The Indigenous Peoples and Student Baseball in Hualien and Taitung

摘要

本研究之目的在從運動社會化媒介的角度調查花蓮和臺東地區原住民參與學生棒球運動的情形，並檢證原住民運動天賦的論述。本研究以問卷調查花東地區全部硬式棒球隊伍，其中國小組二十一隊、國中組九隊、高中組四隊，問卷回收率分別為62%、78%、100%。並訪談三十九位花東地區三級棒球隊的教練、一位桃園縣少棒教練、兩位花東地區的醫生以及臺東縣體育保健課課長一名。研究結果發現，花東地區三級棒球球員中以阿美族原住民占最大比率。原住民選手並未誤認其具備運動天賦而投入棒球，興趣是最主要原因，並認為教練訓練以及自己的努力才是成為優秀棒球員的必要條件。臺東地區因為縣政府和地方棒球耆老的帶動，棒球發展優於花蓮。幾乎全部的花東教練認為原住民的運動能力較優於非原住民，阿美族原住民則因身材較高大而能在職棒界立足，至於環境造成的體能優點則各族都相似。臺灣職棒界中阿美族原住民眾多，背景因素包括較低的家庭經濟、政府的政策以及與在地的成功機會結構密切相關。

The main purpose of this study was to investigate current participant situation of student baseball in Hualien and Taitung, and to verify the discourse of indigenous people's genetic talent in sport by the perspective of sport socializing agents. Questionnaire survey and interview were adopted in this study. Questionnaires were distributed to all the baseball teams in Hualien and Taitung, including 21 elementary school teams, 9 junior high school teams, and 4 senior high school teams. The valid return rate was 62%, 78% and 100% respectively. Furthermore, 39 coaches of elementary school, junior high school, and senior high school baseball teams in Hualien and Taitung, one coach of Tauyeun elementary school, 2 doctors of Hualien and Taitung, and the head of physical and health care section of Taitung county government were in-depth interviewed. The result showed that Amis players took the most percentage of student baseball players (elementary school, junior high school, and senior high school baseball players) in Hualien and Taitung. The main reason for indigenous players to put themselves in baseball was not the misunderstanding of having inborn talents but their own interests. Besides, they all agreed that training by their coaches and efforts by themselves were the essential condition to become outstanding baseball players. Government's policies and promotion of local elders made the development of baseball in Taitung better than in Hualien. Almost all coaches thought that indigenous players' performances on sport are better than non-indigenous players'. Amis players, owing to their taller and stronger physical condition, could have a foothold on CPBL (Chinese Professional Baseball League). However, physical advantages resulted from environment are similar among all the tribes in Taiwan. There were several reasons accounting for the higher population of Amis players in CPBL, including lower household income, government's policies and more chances to link up with local successful network.
