A New Subspecies of Land Snail Bensonella plicidens lakainguta (Gastropoda, Vertiginidae) from Southern Taiwan

摘要

本文描述一種採集自南台灣屏東縣與台東縣交界處知本主山的一新亞種知本小班蝸Bensonellaplicidens lakainguta subsp. nov.，本亞種與原記錄於印度北方的指名亞種差異為本新亞種1.有較為垂直的殼口；2.底唇較為寬廣使得殼口呈現近乎四邊形或是梯形；3.軸板、底板與顎板中斷，以至呈現朝外的尖鉤狀，中段凹陷只有痕跡，末端又增強突起於殼口近邊緣處。因為與指名亞種有地理隔離以及差異比較細微的緣故，作者認為這是一個亞種。

A new subspecies, Bensonella plicidens lakainguta subsp. nov., is collected from Mt. Zhibenzhushan, Pingtung County, southern Taiwan and is described in this article. The new subspecies differs to the discontinuously widespread nominate subspecies Bensonella plicidens plicidens Benson, 1849 in 1. having a more vertical aperture; 2. having a wider base lip so that the aperture is close to rectangular; 3. the columellar, basal and palatal lamellae are interrupted, with a hook pointed outward, a trace of lamella along the shell wall extending near to the aperture margin and elevated again submarginally. Owing to these minute differences and isolated distribution, I decide it is a new subspecies.
