Our study was focused on avian communities in relation to habitat types of different successional stages, including primary forest, burned forest, 1-2 yr old grassland and 5-6 yr old grassland. Species richness was higher in primary and burned forests (33 and 26 sp., respectively) due to their diversity of flora and complexity of vegetation vertical structure. On the contrary, 1-2 yr old and 5-6 yr old grassland contained fewer species (8 and 6 sp., respectively) due to habitat simplicity. The results suggest that habitat characteristics may play a strong role in determining avian community composition.
