The Iris-Loaded Wave Guide as a Boundary Value Problem. III

In this paper we formulate the problem we treated in two previous papers in this journal in a different way which leads in a more direct way to the solution. In first approximation for small values of W-h the propagation constant of the guide and I the length of the corrugation-we obtain in general the same result as in our second report There is however a strong influence of the excited modes which modifies the frequency condition essentially. This seems to indicate that the Walkinshaw method should lead to dubious results because it neglects completely the influence of these modes.
