The total neutron cross sections of carbon and lead from 5.3 MeV to 6.3 MeV were measured by the time-of-flight technique. The background due to room scattering was almost zero. Data were corrected for in-scattering effect.A resonance was observed for carbon at 5.36 MeV and no resonances were observed for lead in this energy range. The 5.36 MeV resonance peak of carbon was analyzed by the Breit-Wigner formula. Resonance parameters were determined and the nuclear radius was suggested in this work.
