臺灣扁柏葉子抽出物抗氧化活性之初探-最佳萃取條件

Preliminary Study on Antioxidant Activities of Leaf Extracts from "Chamaecyparis Obtusa" var. "Formosana"-Optimization of Extraction Conditions

摘要


本研究係探討臺灣扁柏("Chamaecyparis obtusa" var. "formosana")葉子熱水抽出物之抗氧化活性。由臺灣3種常見扁柏屬植物-紅檜("C. formosensis")、臺灣扁柏及日本扁柏("C. obtusa")-抗氧化活性之結果得知,臺灣扁柏葉子熱水抽出物之活性最佳;又比較臺灣扁柏不同地區及不同萃取時間之熱水抽出物抗氧化活性,以棲蘭山地區的臺灣扁柏6 hr熱水抽出物抗氧化效果最佳且收率亦高;進一步評估不同溶劑抽出物之抗氧化活性與細胞毒性,得知臺灣扁柏葉子熱水抽出物不僅抗氧化效果與溶劑抽出物相當,且細胞毒性低。另外,枝葉不分離萃取所得抽出物之抗氧化效果與單獨葉子抽出物相當,且細胞毒性亦低,未來可考慮省去人工枝葉分離程序,以降低生產成本。本研究結果顯示臺灣扁柏葉子熱水抽出物極具潛力開發為抗氧化劑,非常值得更深入研究。

The aim of this study was to evaluate the antioxidant activity of hot water extracts from "Chamaecyparis obtusa" var. "formosana" leaf. Among three common Chamaecyparis species-"C. formosensis", "C. obtusa" var. formosana and "C. obtusa"-grown in Taiwan, we found that the leaf hot water extracts of "C. obtusa" var. "formosana" had an excellent antioxidant activity. According to our results, using hot water to extract the leaf of "C. obtusa" var. "formosana" collected from Mt. Chilan for 6 hr, the extracts with best antioxidant activity and high yields were obtained. Moreover, the leaf hot water extracts of "C. obtusa" var. "formosana" had low cell toxicity. In addition, the hot water extract of non-separated leafy twig had similar antioxidant activity to leaf extracts and its cell toxicity was also low. Therefore, the separation of leaf from twig could be excluded when considering the cost to production. The results obtained revealed that the leaf of "C. obtusa" var. "formosana" had the potential to be used as a source for antioxidants and worth for further investigation.
