This paper discusses how public libraries in Taiwan can implement organizational innovations from a social-responsibility point of view. To illustrate, the author explore how public libraries in the United States adopt organizational innovations that are oriented toward their social reponsibility. This paper then concludes by presenting how public libraries in Taiwan, besides being a ”knowledge house” and a culture presevation center, can further practically take their social responsibility and implement organizational innovations, thereby showing their humanisitc concerns for the society, and remain highly cometitive in this era of innovational economy.
