In recent years, ecotourism has become the focus of extremely extensive media coverage and a major theme of international conferences all over the world. This indicates that the tourism industry is persuing a new mode of development and a new model of thinking in its global expansion, and it shows that the emergence of ecotourism is playing an important role in solving the problems between tourism development and environmental issues. This paper reviews recent developments of ecotourism in the international arena, including self-regulation standards launched by related organizations, best practices, and action plans of the governments advanced countries. The primary objective of this paper is to apply international experiences in ecotourism to our own future development.
