The Influencing Factors of Receiving Rehabilitation on Stroke Patients in Kaohsiung and Pingtong Area

摘要

The purpose of this study was to investigate the influencing factors of receiving rehabilitation on stroke patients in Kaohsiung-Pingtong area and to submit some suggestions on stroke patient care. There were 256 patients collected from January to June in 1991 and interviewed by home visits. The. effective cases were 180. The data were analyzed by SAS software. The results showed that half of the 180 patients had received rehabilitation during hospital stay. There were significant difference between receiveing rehabilitation and ADL (Activity of Daily Living) scores of discharging immediately from hospital stay and at home visit. We found that the major factors influencing the will to receive rehabilitation included patients depression, little improvement after therapy, insufficient caregiver, inconvient transportation and economic difficulty. It is recommended that the establishment of community rehabilitation center and promotion of homecare system can effectively solve the problems of the elderly and chronic disease care.
