Pavement roughness is always the concerned issue for road agencies and road users. Besides the construction technology and materials, applying the appropriate and accurate measuring methods for acceptance test could ensure the initial roughness of pavement and also be the key factor of pavement life and riding quality. With the development of technology, utilizing the inertial profiler to execute the acceptance test is widely applied all over the world, but it is hard to generalize in Taiwan due to the doubt of measuring data. This study first verified the repeatability and accuracy of the data from inertial profiler by CNS 15371 and then developed a procedure of simulating the index of hi-lo detector from inertial profiler data to confirm its accuracy and applicability in actual pavement roughness acceptance by real data from road test. Finally, the feasibility of replacing hi-lo detector by inertial profiler was proved.
