This paper shows that ascorbic acid hinders 4-DMAP degradation in aqueous solution resulting in a significant stabilization of the 4-DMAP. For the ascorbic acid concentrations used in this study, the effect was higher on 4-DMAP solution. It is also shown that for a fixed 4-DMAP concentration, as ascorbic acid concentration increased the degradation reaction shifted from first to zero orderkinetics.
