The study of recurrent rate after bare scleral pterygium operation with the post-operative installation of Thio-TEPA and steroids are presented for 111 eyes of 79 patients. Post-operative follow-up ranges from 3 to 21 months. Twenty six pterygia have recurred (23.4%). In our study there was no significant relationships between recurrent rate and sex, age or occupation (p>0.05). Schirmer's test (basic-secretion) was performed pre-operatively, and the results showed that the values of those recurrent cases were significantly lower than that of the others (p<0.05). In order to reduce the recurrent rate, other better operative methods and post-operative use of artificial tears should be considered.
