摘要

一般人常把巴爾札克歸類於寫實小說家，就連他自己也常謙虛地自稱「法國社會的書記」，解釋《人間喜劇》的目標僅在抄錄一切社會現象，絕無私人意圖。然而，在這同時，他也意識到，若想要成為一位偉大的作家、留名青史，他還需深入了解社會的種種現象，挖掘一些隱藏、不為人知的社會秘密，使作品富有研究價值，進而提昇小說的地位。因此，這位野心勃勃，以拿破崙做為目標、以傳統封建思想做為準則的作家自我賦予了成為偉大「思想家」的使命，決心以文筆代替刀劍、將小說當作政治實驗，帶領人民共同開創一個美好的未來。

Most people usually categorized Balzac as a realist writer, he himself even modestly described himself as ”the secretary of French society” and explained ”The Human Comedy” was only meant to make portrait of the society rather than any personal purposes. However, at the same time he always came to realize, in order to become a famous writer and for his work to have greater research value, he needs to study the society in depth and dig out any unknown secrets of the society.Therefore, this ambitious writer gave himself the mission of becoming the great thinker with Napoleon as his model and feudalism as his principle. He then decided to use his pen as sword, and his novel as political experiment to lead the people to a better future.
