Within the confines of Aristotle's formal logic of either-or, it is impossible to account for the existence of contradictions or paradoxes. Further, Hegel's dialectical logic of both-or lacks a full appreciation of contradictions. Both fail to capture the nature of complex phenomena in terms of the interdependence, interaction and interpenetration between their diverse parts (many being real opposites) toward a united whole (being a holistic system of unity-in-opposites). To remedy this problem, we evoke the Chinese Yin-Yang Balancing as a neglected Eastern cognitive system, which is unique in the sense that it fully accommodates and appreciates contradictions.
