本研究目的在於評估相較於傳統課堂教學,非同步遠距網路教學方式對於遺傳諮詢教育的成效,以期提昇遺傳諮詢服務之品質。於2003年9月到2004年1月,分別針對選修「遺傳諮詢概論」之臨床醫護人員(遠距網路教學)和護理系學生(課堂面授)進行課程前後之評值;評值內容包括遺傳學知識、遺傳諮詢之認知程度和利用資源協助處理遺傳相關之個案等。結果發現兩組學生在前後測當中的遺傳學知識上的確有所提昇,而且在遺傳諮詢之認知程度和利用資源協助處理遺傳相關之個案狀況上亦有所增長。本研究結果支持遠距網路教學能提供和傳統課堂面授教學之相同效果,且進而可解決臨床醫護人員因工作性質所產生之時間與場域限制,此一教學方式可提供給相關教師做為課程設計之參考依據。
To promote more comprehensive genetic education, we have developed a distance e-learning educational program for medical staff. This genetic counseling program focuses on genetic knowledge, ethical principles in genetics, and counseling skills. From September, 2003, through January, 2004, the participants in this program were medical staff and nursing students who were registered for the course ”Introduction to Genetic Counseling”. Medical staff and nursing students attended classes using both distance e-learning and classroom teaching separately. All students were tested by pre- and post-class questionnaires, which assessed genetic knowledge and competence at carrying out genetic counseling. The results showed a significant improvement in genetic knowledge. In addition, the results also indicated that both the distance e-learning and the classroom teaching course achieved satisfactory effectiveness in improving the students' capacity to undertake genetic counseling. According our results, using both teaching methods have the same effectiveness, and distance e-learning would seem to help solve problems caused by time and place limitations found among medical staff. The results also offer an alternative to teachers in terms of course design.
