Sex Therapy in Taiwan: A Brief Literature Review and Future Perspective

摘要

本文簡述馬斯特與瓊森性治療於一九八○年代引進台灣之後的發展狀況。藉由文獻回顧與討論，特別是一本史學專書：「亞細亞的身體：性別、醫療、與近代台灣」相關章節論述的引用，對台灣性治療的發展史做重點整理與展望。性治療專業在台灣的成長是緩慢的，且尚未成熟。相對地，威爾剛問世之後，泌尿科與男性學在性醫療的研究與臨床服務發展迅速。此外，性功能障礙的中西醫結合治療也值得肯定。台灣性治療的未來將隨全球化的趨勢發展，性治療將和性醫療分工合作，且多元科際整合治療，朝向精緻專業化邁進。

The developmental history of sex therapy based on Masters and Johnson model in Taiwan is briefly outlined in this article. The historical monograph: ”Assembling the New Body: Gender/Sexuality, medicine, and modern Taiwan” is particularly referred, and two relevant paragraphs of which are quoted and critically reviewed.The growth of the profession for sex therapy in Taiwan has been sluggish and immature so far. On the contrary, the professions of urology and andrology have greatly promoted the specialty of sexual medicine after the introduction of Viagra to the market. Furthermore, the East-West-Medicine integrated treatment strategy is also well endorsed by the traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of sexual dysfunctions.The future of sex therapy in Taiwan would go together with the global mainstream that favors multi-disciplinary integration, professionalization and specialization of both sex therapy and sexual medicine.
