Blood transfusion has been a life support in various conditions. Prior to transfusion, cross-match and typing is needed to minimize risk of incomparatiblilty. Based upon our previous study, Maltese Terrier was found to be predisposing to tick-borne diseases in Taipei area. Blood samples from 85 Maltese Terriers were typed using DEA 1.1. In this study, incidence of DEA 1.1 positive was 21.2%, it was lowest incidence of DEA 1.1. ever reported.
