A 6-year-old mixed breed male dog showing paresis of right hind limb which might have been caused by a delayed response of organphosphorus intoxication was presented. Clinical examinations revealed negative response to postural reaction including hopping and proprioceptive positioning. Neither was the lower motor neuron reaction detected. Muscular atrophy and significant hypalgesia were noticed. Radiography showed intact osteo-joints-conformations. Treatments with a 3-week prednisolone course was ineffective and then withdrawn. Thereafter, electro-acupunctures on Huan-Tiao (GB-30), Yang-Ling (GB-34), Hou-San-Li, and Liu-Feng (Zhi-Jian) points were conducted for 30 laps, in varying day intervals for a period 2 months. This resulted in complete recovery of paresis with normal gaits achieved. It suggests that acupuncture can be an effective cure for canine paresis.
