Serum samples collected from 1554 broiler flocks and 363 hybrid broiler (HB) flocks were examined for hemagglutination inhibition antibody titer of Newcastle disease (ND) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay antibody titers of infectious bursal disease (IBD), infectious bronchitis (IB) and reovirus infections (Reo). Geometric mean maternal antibody (MAb) titers of broilers were 54 ± 3 of ND, 1643 ± 5 of IBD, 2893 ± 6 of IB, and 785 ± 9 of Reo. For HB, MAb titers were 40 ± 3 of ND, 1473 ± 4 of IBD, 1186 ± 5 of IB, and 226 ± 10 of Reo. The MAb titers of Reo in HB were significantly lower than those 01 broilers (P < 0.05). The antibody titers of broilers at marketing age were 26 ± 4 of ND, 779 ± 14 of IBD, 312 ± 14 of IB, and 150 ± 10 of Reo. In broiler, the ND, IB and Reo antibody titers at marketing age were significantly lower than the maternal antibody titers. The broiler flocks with ND titer below 8 at marketing age were all only vaccinated with attenuated ND vaccine. Supplemental use of inactived ND vaccine during high infection pressure is suggested.
