The purpose of this project was to evaluate the attitude of patients with colorectal cancer toward chemotherapy in order to shorten the waiting time and improve the satisfaction level of chemotherapy. Before the improvement program was implemented, the average satisfaction level of colorectal cancer patients for chemotherapy was 3.11, between the level of ”satisfied” and ”fair”. In addition, lack of well-developed chemotherapy education materials and wasting much time for the laboratory reports were also presented in our study. Improvement project was designed to correct these deficits. Chemotherapy education materials was established and waiting time for laboratory reports was shortened. After the improvement program, the satisfaction level increased to 4.02, between ”satisfied” and ”very satisfied”. It reached statistically significance (t=-8.4, p<0.001). The mean waiting time for laboratory report shortened from 111 minutes to 57 minutes (t=-11.69, p<0.001). The mean waiting time for starting chemotherapy shortened from 300 minutes to 227 minutes (t=-6.13, p<0.001). Both changes were statistically significant. By establishing a complete nursing instruction through the improvement project, these patients receiving chemotherapy may gain an instant and continuous nursing care.
