This study was to analyze the level of the uncertainty and its related factors in breast cancer patients. The patients were recruited at a medical center in south Taiwan from March to June. There were 78 valid cases. The data were analyzed through descriptive and influential statistics. The results are as follows: (1) the patients had a middle-high level of the uncertainty, and ambiguity was higher than complexity according to the factor analysis; (2) There was no significant relationship between personal background and the uncertainty; (3) the average score of uncertainty among the relapsed patients was significantly higher than those of the non-relapsed (P<0.05). In addition, the relationship between physical condition and uncertainty was negative(r=-0.43, P=0.00). This study suggested that the clinical nurses should evaluate the uncertainty of the patients and their adaptation in the process of the treatment. Therefore, reducing the uncertainty will improve the life quality of the patients.
