ASEAN is an important destination of Mainland China's outward foreign direct investment (FDI). The purpose of this paper attempts to crystallize the facts and analyze the characteristics with respect to the official data on China's outward FDI in ASEAN. The goal of the central state-ownership enterprises is to fulfill the policy of the state and invest centrally in mine industry. The entry modes of the central state-ownership enterprises are vertical integration. The investments of non-central state-ownership and private enterprises focus on the labor-intensive manufacture industry. The motivations of them attempt to explore new market and upgrade technology. The entry modes both of them include green investment and vertical integration.
