印順法師的著作因緣

印順法師是近代最具影響力的佛教思想家，在70多年的撰述生涯中，留下許多足以傳世的著作，舉其要者如：《妙雲集》（24冊）、《華雨集》（5冊）、《永光集》1冊，以及《印度之佛教》、《如來藏之研究》、《中國禪宗史：從印度禪到中華禪》、《中國古代民族神話與文化之研究》、《原始佛教聖典之集成》、《說一切有部為主的論書與論師之研究》、《初期大乘佛教之起源與開展》、《印度佛教思想史》等專書；另編有《太虛大師全書》65冊、《太虛大師選集》3冊、《雜阿含經論會編》3冊、《法海微波》1冊。本文主要針對印順法師如何選定研究主題進行探討，希望能夠了解其為何選定某些主題進行研究，並分由：印順法師對大乘佛教三大系探源之研究、印順法師自己寫的有關印度佛教史著作、印順法師有關中國（佛教）史的著作、印順法師的經論講記、印順法師隨緣講說、印順法師針對不同層面議題而寫的文章、印順法師幾種特殊著作、印順法師整理編輯的書等八類，並分析其中哪些主題是屬於自發性的，哪些主題是為了回應時代議題或某人主張而提出來的研究，藉由全面探討印順法師的著作因緣，當有助於我們掌握印順法師的思想。

Master Yin Shun was perhaps the most influential Buddhist philosopher in modern era. With his 70 years of writing, Master Yin Shun left a huge number of important works, including ”Miao Yun Collection” (24 Vols), ”Hua Yu Collection” (5 Vols), ”Yong Guang Collection” (1 Vol), and many other publications relating to Master Tai Xu and Chinese Mahayana Buddhism, particularly the Three Treatise school. This article examines how Master Yin Shun chose and decided the topics of his writing and the rationales behind his decision. The discussion is focused on the eight main categories of Master Yin Shun's writings: the three great divergences of Buddhist thoughts, Buddhist history in India, Buddhist history in China, Master Yin Shun's lectures on Buddhist sutras, his random lectures on Buddhism, his topical articles, his works with special focus, and the books he edited. By scrutinizing these eight different categories, this article analyzes which categories were written as a result of voluntary researches conducted by Master Yin Shun, and which categories were written in response to issues of his time or arguments raised by other people. A comprehensive research into the causes and conditions of Master Yin Shun's writings will help us to further understand his life and thoughts.
