摘要

郭芝苑從1947年譜寫唐詩〈涼州詞〉為藝術歌曲以來，創作生涯超過一甲子，不論其間經過多少困難，他都堅持下去。他是學院派出身的音樂家，卻因政權轉移的不適應，總是在音樂主流圈邊緣環繞。郭芝苑生性木訥、不擅交際，內心卻充滿熱情與人文關懷。本文分成五大部分，闡述郭芝苑的本土意識與人文關懷。首先，回顧他一生的音樂學習、創作生涯；接著，從他的歌曲和鋼琴曲的素材、創作背景探索其本土意識和風格；在人文關懷方面，郭芝苑的管弦樂作品《唐山過台灣》和歌曲《啊！父親》，表現的最明顯，將在文中介紹與探討。郭芝苑自發性所譜寫的台灣愛國歌曲《台灣頌》、《前進！台灣人》等，再一次呈現他以身為台灣人的驕傲。最後，將探討郭芝苑晚年的歌曲，何以他在體力、聽力極度衰退下，仍能堅持創作，譜寫了超過50首的台語歌曲？其中所代表的意義，主要在於他對鄉土的愛、對創作永遠不減的熱情。

Kuo Chih-Yuan (1921-) is one of the most outstanding composers in Taiwan. He grew up in Miao-Lee during the period of Japanese rule, went to Tokyo and studied music there, and came back to Taiwan after the War II. Since 60 years he continues to write music. His music works are of a wide range, including vocal music (such as art songs, choral music, operas) and instrumental music (piano works, chamber music, orchestral music etc.). In addition, he has arranged many Taiwanese folk songs into choral and piano pieces. As a child Kuo heard traditional music and music theater very much like Pei-Kuan (a musical Style from North China) and Ge-Tsai-Si (the most popular folk music theater in Taiwan). The article is divided into 5 parts and focuses on Kuo Chih-Yuan's Taiwan consciousness and thought of humanistic concern in his compositions. Songs with folk tunes like The JI Fish is Going to Marry, A Man Whose Name is Bu, Oh! Father, Homeland, I Miss You All the Night and several piano suites will be discussed. Kuo has devoted himself especially to the Homeland by composing the Symphony From Tang-Shan to Taiwan and the patriotic marches Ode to Taiwan, Forword! Taiwanese.
