若櫻的戰爭足跡-台灣海軍特別志願兵之部署與戰後復員(1944-46)

Special Taiwan Volunteers for the Imperial Japanese Navy in World War II, 1944-46

摘要


因戰況急轉直下,日本海軍戰力被大量消耗,面臨急速增員需求,開始計劃動員殖民地青年加入海軍。因此,於1943年5月11日,由日本通過閣議,宣佈在台灣及朝鮮兩地同時實施「海軍特別志願兵制度」,並訂於該年8月1日正式施行。總計日方在台灣共徵募了六期的海軍志願兵,除第一期招募1,000名外,其餘二至六各期各為2,000名,共11,000名。自1944年6月底始,台灣海軍志願兵陸續從高雄海兵團受訓完畢,準備進一步派入各海軍部隊,然其分派的時間點,正逢盟軍從太平洋展開激烈的反攻之際。當時,被投入各戰區的海軍志願兵肩負相異的作戰任務,並因所在地點的不同而有相異的處境,其中被派往日本的部份人員,更因「護國丸事故」產生重大死傷。其後,隨著1945年8月15日,日本宣佈無條件投降,第二次世界大戰正式結束,被分至各地區的台灣海軍志願兵亦隨之展開戰後復員,所承受的命運也因分屬地區而有不同。本文試由口述資料與周邊史料,以拼湊台灣海軍志願兵的派遣與復員輪廓。

Along with the situation of the battlefield was getting worse and worse, the Japanese army faced the problem that they need more and more soldiers. On August first, 1943, the Japanese government enacted ”Special Volunteer System for Navy.” At the end of June in 1944, these Taiwanese volunteers finished their training consecutively, and were ready to be sent to navy troops. At that time, the alliance started fierce attacking from the Pacific Ocean. Meanwhile, the volunteers in different war zones had different missions, and were in various situations due to their locations. Some of them who were sent to Japan suffered from serious casualty because of Gokoku Maru incident. After Japanese surrendered, the Special Taiwanese Volunteers for the Imperial Japanese Navy were demobilized. These soldiers in different areas had various outcomes. The soldiers who stayed in Taiwan returned home in a short time after the war is over. As those who were sent overseas, their return depended on the help of the Allied Forces and Japan.
