This article seeks to review influential ”risk society” thesis of Ulrich Beck on its central ideas of reflexivity, media, and sub-politics in Taiwan society from the salience of the cultural sociology of Pierre Bourdieu. We find that under the socio-cultural context in Taiwan, the citizen, media, and social movement do not fully respond to risk as Beck expected. Therefore, we call for a need of localizing risk society theory, and the social ethos should be changed through education.
