Influenced by personal and community cultural background and communication pattern, a patient's experience of illness will be different from the healthcare professionals' understanding of disease. Before determining the most appropriate interventions, nursing assessment should include the patient's values, preferences, evidences, and if needed, expert consult opinion. Cultural aspect of care and culture competence is the ability to let the individuals relate their life stories, understand their suffering experiences, and then translate the most appropriate evidence into patient care.
