Reflecting the Presupposition of Holistic Education from Biblical Anthropology

From educational perspective, the way we understand and interpret the mystery of ”human being” will have tremendous influence toward our learning, growing and developing process, as well as the quality of human life. The concept or viewpoints of educators may also affect the style and application of education. If we accept this assumption, one of the challenges and contributions that Catholic universities may provide to holistic education is to interpret anthropology in Christianity, and reflect the possibility to communicate this religious concept in a non-religious way. This article tries to sketch the basic biblical anthropology, starting with the human person as a complicated unity, then to develop this mystery from four dimensions-as creature, image of God, sinful and graced; later, try to describe it in non-religious, philosophical or psychological ways, hoping that this balanced and integrated concept may serve for educators, both Christian and non-Christian, as a valuable anthropological presupposition to perceive the mystery of human person.
