孫悟空在《西遊記》裏的形象,殊行絕才而令人印象深刻者,是「攪亂天宮」與「西天取經」兩方面。前者是謗議沸騰的負面紀錄,後項則是仁智互見的毀譽參半!其實若僅就第一、二回的敘述中,可以察覺年少時的孫悟空,是具有良質美才的天份與瑰意琦行的舉止;介於平凡與不平凡的「石猴」身世,到法術高超的美猴王,這中間的學習歷程,充滿著對生命價值的自覺,以及虛心而細膩的態度,終於受到須菩提祖師爺激賞,而願意巧譬善導、傾囊相授。這些情節的發掘與詮釋,或許可以啟發e世代的年少讀者,對所謂「成功」所蘊涵的要件,能夠明確掌握,進而砥志礪行。至於第四回至第七回,又因礙於「石猴」自卑身份,因而出乖露醜,連帶衍生「失敗」之負面結果,本研究也稍作闡釋,強調卻勿偃鼠飲河,導致自滿招損,進而指出學無止境概念的重要效應。
