Relationship between Video Game Behavior and Self-Concept Clarity

摘要


探討是否遊戲時間的長短與自我概念清晰的高低有關聯。本研究採紙筆問答與便利取樣的方式對159名大學生進行調查,並篩選出實際參與者電玩遊戲的族群作為施測對象。結果發現,相較於自我概念清晰高的電玩遊戲玩家,自我概念清晰較低的電玩遊戲玩家每週花費較多的時間進行電玩遊戲。此外,在每週從事電玩遊戲5小時以下的電玩遊戲玩家中,女性比率多於男性。

The purpose of study is to investigate a relationship between video game time spent playing and psychological construct (self-concept clarity). A pencil-paper survey and a convenience sampling for 159 college students who regularly played video game were deployed. The results revealed that self-concept clarity are more relevant units of analysis to understanding gamer psychology. Gamers with low self-concept clarity spend more times playing video games per week than gamers with high self-concept clarity. Female gamers in the group of below 5 hours per week spend more time playing video games than male gamers.
