從定、慧原理,論「法門無諍」-以念佛法門為例

A Study of "Araṇā Practices" on the Principle of Samadhi and Wisdom: Buddha-name Chanting Method as An Example

摘要


本文以念佛三昧為例,從定、慧原理及修行路徑,闡述佛教修行的意涵與特色,並掘發「諸法無諍三昧法門」的深義。大乘菩薩道一般都將般若波羅蜜視作「六度之母」,但慧思卻獨將「禪波羅蜜」放在一個中軸的重要位置。徵諸慧思所說,以禪波羅蜜為初始,於三昧力成就之後,再進以引發神通、修證智慧乃至圓滿佛果功德。而本文所述「念佛三昧」,恰恰就是依「禪波羅蜜」的三昧力,加上佛威神力與己功德力,開發性空觀慧而達致的不思議境。念佛的功力有淺有深,行人可以在定、慧力的逐步增強中由淺入深。而現見「無量諸佛悉現在前」,覺證甚深廣大的空性智慧的般舟三昧,在知見上體現了「緣起、性空、中道」的念真佛義,在修行上,恰好也印證了「諸法無諍三昧法門」的至理。

In this paper, the author, taking Buddha-name chanting Samadhi for example, elaborates the meaning and characteristics of Buddhist practice on the principles of meditation and wisdom, and the approach to practice, to discover the deep meaning of the Approach to Achieve Araṇā-samādhi with All Phenomena. Those who take the path of Mahayana Bodhisattva generally regards Prajnaparamita (wisdom) as Mother of the Six Paramitas, but Hui-si alone places "Meditaion Paramita" at an important central place. According to Hui-si, the way to Buddhahood begins with Meditation Paramita; after the Samadhi is attained, the practitioners then have the power to achieve their potentials of sensual organs and wisdom, and can even complete the merits of Buddhahood. Further, the state of the Buddha-name Chanting Samadhi that this paper states, is precisely the incredible one that is attained by developing the observing wisdom of the emptiness in nature, with the Samadhi brought by Meditation (Dhyāna pāramitā) plus the power of Buddha and one's merits. The familiarity of Buddha-name chanting could be gradually bred as the force of meditation and wisdom has progressed. Therein, one can witness "immeasurable Buddhas being present in front," and attains Pratyutpanna Samadhi, the profound and great wisdom of emptiness in nature. One can perceive and manifest the true meaning of Buddha-name chanting- dependent origination, the emptiness in nature, and the middle path. In practice, one can also confirm the highest truth of "the Approach to Achieve Araṇā-samādhi with All Phenomena."
