Numerical Analysis of Dynamic Coefficients in Brush Seal

To analysis the dynamic coefficients of rotor brush seal system, a 3D CFD brush seal computational model was established. The results show that at the same geometry parameter the radial force increase in a minus direction when the pressure ratio rises, the tangential force increases with the pressure ratio rises, and the radial force are much greater than tangential force. And the leakage through the brush seal decreases when the rotor velocity increases. Moreover, radial force component decreases when the rotor velocity increases, but the tangential force component rises with the rotor velocity increases. Direct and cross-coupled stiffness and direct damping and cross-coupled damping were calculated by using the model. The results provide theoretical support to enhance the stability of the rotor system.
