Contact problem is important in machine element. The contact between an elastic sphere and a rigid space has been investigated for a long time. The Hertz contact theory is widely used to explain the contact behavior. Recently, finite element method is used to investigate different types of contact behavior. There are only few researches on the effect of Poisson's ratio on the contact between an elastic sphere and a rigid space. In this study, the finite element simulation is used to analyze the contact of an elastic sphere and a rigid space. The influence of the Poisson's ratio is investigated.
