Diet of Kentish Plover Wintering at Zengwun Estuary in Southwestern Taiwan

摘要

本研究自2013年11月起至2014年4月止，在曾文溪口觀察東方環頸鴴(Charadrius alexandrines)度冬期之食性。度冬期間， 牠們在潮間帶覓食或在沙灘休息，每個月採集10~20個排遺樣本，共採集90個樣本。從73個樣本中(有17個空白樣本)分離出132項生物殘肢，分屬16種動物。食物中的無脊椎動物甲殼綱(Crustacea)有72.7%、昆蟲綱(Insecta)有16.0%及腹足綱(Gastropoda)有9.8%等；甲殼綱的長趾股窗蟹(Scopimera longidactyla) 有26.5 % 及短指和尚蟹(Mictyrisbrevidactylus)有19.7%，是東方環頸鴴在曾文溪口的主要食物。

From November 2013 to April 2014, we studied diet of Kentish Plovers (Charadrius alexandrines) during wintering at Zengwun Estuary in Southwestern Taiwan. In the previous wintering period, Kentish Plovers foraged in the intertidal zone and rested at the beach. We collected 10 – 20 Kentish Plover’s excrement samples each month, and collected 90 samples in totals. There were 73 samples contained creature’s residues, and 132 creature’s residues were retrieved in totals. They belonged to 16 species of creatures, and the major creatures were invertebrate Crustacea (72.7%), Insecta (16.0%), and Gastropoda (9.8%). Among them, Scopimera longidactyla (26.5%) and Mictyris brevidactylus (19.7%) were the main food for Kentish Plovers at Zengwun Estuary in Southwestern Taiwan.
