二十世紀後半葉,西方藝術發展開啟替代空間做為有別於美術館機構和商業畫廊的新型態藝術領域,其生成條件伴隨整體社會轉變,而成為藝術世界之中新的發表空間,同時表現藝術關懷社會現象的途徑,使之帶有社會運動的模式。本研究主要採擬美國替代空間形式狀況,對比台灣替代空間形式的發展,從社會時代背景、藝術觀念轉變的過程,觀察空間參與社會改革的方式,不僅經由組織團體的凝聚,亦開展出實體空間和城市空間的想像;美國與台灣國情不同,實質情況也不盡相同,然而,在時代潮流之中,依然可見替代空間形式的發展走向包含多元藝術的表現以及社會性格的功用,透過實際案例論析,推導社會運動模式的藝術輪廓,並期望從本研究中,對新類型藝術的多重身分之改變社會的力量有具體明示的效果。
The alternative space, related to the modern art development, has sprung a new art scene. Different from aesthetic institution and commercial gallery during the second half of twentieth century, it accompanied the transformation of the whole American society and created new exhibition spaces in the art world. Furthermore, it presents the influence of concern for social phenomena, as well as social movement patterns. This research mainly correlates the outline of American alternative spaces activity with the situation of Taiwanese alternative spaces scene , by observing the social background and art conception transformation, which involve the way of social reform. This process of social reform involvement not only emerges the gathering of artist’s collectivity, but also supplies artistic imagination to alternative way for particular solid spaces and urban spaces. The differences of national conditions in the US and Taiwan yet are seen alternative spaces incorporating into multi-expressions of art and social character functions within the trend of times. Beyond the case studies, this research analyzes the alternative art scene of social movement and expects a positive effect specifically on new art multiple characters and power of social variation.
