To complete a complicated task often requires different fields of professionals to work together, i.e. every one only has a portion of knowledge, and put together those partial knowledge emerge to a complete knowledge. On the other hand, in the era of internet, to gather knowledge by visiting webs one by one to grab piece of information from the web pages takes lots of effort in searching and integration knowledge. Therefore, we need a better approach to do this task. If knowledge can be interpreted by computer, then computer can retrieve knowledge to meet individual’s user need. This can be done by ontology and it provides a way for representing and communicating knowledge. To conquer this issue, we therefore proposed a approach based on the idea of “divide and conquer”. We first build some ontology and each is related to sub-domain knowledge respectively and then integrate it later. In this approach, the ontology contains only part of problem solving knowledge, but integrating partial ontology, we are able to have a complete knowledge to solve the problem. To support this function, we use web service technology provides a solution to this problem. Sharing ontology based on web service provides a simple and flexible manner for ontology sharing and integration. According our literature research, there are not such kinds of research. In order to demonstrate the feasibility of our approach, we use diabetes care as an example because it needs different professionals to care patients. The result of our research shows, individual knowledge worker represents his knowledge by ontology and publish it to the UDDI database for further querying by internet users. We design a web service mechanism to collect individual knowledge from these ontologies and further integrate them to form a complete knowledge. The result of our research shows, our system can provide diabetes care plan according to patient’s profile and thus can reduce the consumption of medical resources and provide consistent care quality at the same time.
