Facebook

Potential and Application of Facebook on Education

From the resent years, Facebook has become the most famous social network site between Taiwan college students. The rise of Facebook has attracted researchers involved. But most current studies concern the Facebook usage profile、Effects of using Facebook and attitude toward Facebook, few of literatures focus on the application of Facebook(especially in Education). In addition, the academic BBS sites decline partially due to the Facebook raises. Whether the emerging technology raises represents the fallen of existing tools is also an interesting issue. The study employed an investigation with 387 students on BBS/E-learning/Facebook as primary platform in classroom. Participants responded to compare the four functional categories:「Announce immediately」、「Resource availability」、「Bulletin functionality」、「Social interactivity」. The results of this study indicated that there exists educational reason of student’s use of Facebook. Facebook as primary platform would be easily to announce, but student would be feel inconvenient when reviewing the past bulletin. Otherwise, most students have high acceptance and positive attitude toward JALs based on Facebook.
