摘 要
新竹州圖書館於民國87年劃定為市定古蹟，卻因仍屬私人企業而閒置中，在街道行為活動上產生缺口，也因此無法對鄰近國小產生正面之教育效果與改善社區環境。新竹市目前以女性為主之機構極少，僅有新竹婦幼館，但其服務內容仍偏屬社會福利。基於上述之背景，本設計論文透過女性主題之展示空間，與象徵男性之歷史建築（新竹州圖書館）做古今之交融與對話，在新竹市建構一新的女性藝文空間。
研究方法以文獻分析作為展示內容之基礎，實地田野調查為空間影像之記錄，並測量實際尺寸，再建3D模型以模擬情境。展示主題之設定採實地觀察法，配合人物訪談與焦點團體訪談以擴展設計之層級與價值。
主要成果一為實質空間展示設計，並以設計圖說及模型呈現展示規劃、展場空間設計、展示媒材與2D圖文之設計。

Abstract
The Hsinchu State Library was considered as a monument of the city in 1998, but since then, it has been standing idle because of its private ownership status, resulting in a lull in street activities. That is, the facility at present does not lend a positive effect to its surrounding environment. Currently, Hsinchu City does not have any institution for women, except the Hsinchu Women and Children’s Hall, which focuses on social welfare and does not cover the other needs of the women of Hsinchu City.
Our design thesis intends to address this issue by creating a dialogue between ancient and modern times, through a temporary exhibition with the theme of interpreting women’s feelings and needs in a historical building: the Hsinchu State Library. The Hsinchu State Library, which was previously occupied by the Japanese and symbolizes the dominant man, will interact with the created exhibition.
This thesis used literature analysis as the basis for display contents, after which spatial images were recorded through field surveys and physical measurement, followed by the construction of a 3D model to simulate the scenario. Display themes were set to field observation, with individual interviews and focus group interviews used for expanding the level of design and value. The main outcomes of this thesis were display and spatial design, coupled with plans, models, and 2D graphic design.
