This study adopted a qualitative method to conduct semi-structured in-depth interviews with 17 children from the families of Taiwanese-Vietnamese and –Indonesians cross-border marriages in Ping Jen City, Taoyuan County. The objectives of this research are to demonstrate the features of parent-child relationships in families of Taiwanese-Southeast Asians cross-border marriage, and further to elucidate the interactions of parent-child relationships. In general, the families of cross-border marriage are challenged by economic and cultural disadvantages, however, their vigorous efforts are not weaken. They still positively confront those disadvantages and engage in their parent-child relationships. Through the eyes of children in those studied families, this study shows that an underprivileged family is not necessary a vulnerable family; parents with disadvantaged socio-economic background do not necessarily mean that they would not be able to build and maintain a positive parent-child relationships.
