aking advantage of the data from Academia Sinica’s Taiwan Education Panel Survey (TEPS), this thesis investigates whether participating in extra-curricular activities affects senior high school students’ academic performance. There were 12,711 effective samples. They are verified by Descriptive Statistics, Crosstab, and Hierarchical Regression. There are a few findings: (1) Adolescents who are girls are more likely to participate in extra- curricular activities. Adolescents who live in townships are more likely to participate in extra- curricular activities. Adolescents whose fathers are highly-educated are more likely to participate in extra- curricular activities. (2) Girls are more likely to be interested in arts clubs, followed by academic clubs.
