The main objective of this paper is to find the factors that affecting visitor’s perception of crowding via visual simulation method in questionnaire technique. The research method of this thesis included literature review several theories and factors about perception of crowding and empirical survey of tourists in Alishan National Forest Recreation Area. Data were collected through questionnaire survey and obtaibed 526 samples that comprised three kinds of respondants (visitors, residents and local workers) during October, 2013 to July, 2014. Literature review prompted the demensions of crowding included: demographic of tourists, settings, and activities. The results showed that significant affecting the visitor’s perception of crowding were the kind of respondents, travel type, age, education level, revisit times, settings, and working day or holiday. Finally, it demonstrated the social interference theory and expectancy theory can be suitable to explain the factors of visitor’s perception of crowding in national forest area.
