The vision of I-Shou University is “aims to be an international comprehensive University that champions Intellectual innovation, Social engagement, and Universal sustainability”. To successfully enforce the Vision and gain the target of being international comprehensive University, the school must figure out what are directly affecting the academic performance and lives of their students especially internationally college students who are being part of international idea. There was a series of researches investigating the influence of Social network sites (SNSs) on academic performance of college students, some reveal positive effect, some point out the negative relationship between them. This quantitative research examines the impact of SNSs on the performance of international college students based on gender. The research will also discuss the differences between I-Shou international college male and female students regarding to academic performance and SNS using. The research was inspired from the work of Boyd and Nicole (2007), which illustrates terms of social network sites and education. In the research, information and perspective will be mainly based on the data collected through questionnaire, which are distributed to 230 international college students at I-Shou University. With the advancement of internet and technology, college students spend much time online with SNSs (Daria J. Kuss & Mark D. Griffiths, 2011). This phenomenon raised the concerns that if the University should stop their students from using SNSs or redesign SNSs in campus like a platform supporting for their student studying. The research is expected to help the international college faculty members understand whether international college student’s academic performance has been benefit from SNSs or not in order to direct them to set an appropriate regular for international college students’ studying achievement based on gender regarding SNSs.
