配對模式與詞語修辭學技巧應用-以電子書閱器圖像設計為例

摘 要 「詞語修辭」是被運用來增進詞語傳達的正確性,而「配對模式」則是為圖像與功能之間的連接性方法,如何讓兩者間能相互搭配且應用於產品圖像設計這是需要深入了解的。電子書閱讀器在操作上無論是使用觸控方式或是按鍵方式都是以圖像來進行操作,如何提供一個正確且辨識率高的電子書閱讀器圖像就顯得十分重要。然而目前電子書閱讀器的圖像是否易於辨識、是否有混淆現象及語意不清的情況,以至於妨礙電子書閱讀器操作的便利性,因此本研究意欲探討以「詞語修辭」與「配對模式」的設計原則來增加電子書閱讀器圖像的辨識性。 經由現況調查發現,目前電子書閱讀器經過 34 受測者測試後,有 3/4 的圖像辨識率偏低的情況;之後在調查 33 位受測者後,整理出有 11 個常需用到的功能;結合此調查結果與文獻中所提到的「配對模式」 (mapping type) 以及「詞語修辭」設立設計原則來進行圖像設計;並且,再以導出的設計原則將這11個功能進行圖像設計;透過專家效度評估後選擇出需要測試的33個圖像;最後,調查31位受測者,所得結果以混淆矩陣、z檢定及 Friedman Test 做分析,顯示82% 新設計的圖像之辨識率皆顯著超過 ISO 建議的66.7% 的圖像辨識率。因此,研究結果顯示,利用「配對模式」加上「詞語修辭」的技巧使用在圖像設計上,對於電子書閱讀器圖像設計與語意傳達上是有幫助。本研究結果可提供給未來於電子書閱讀器設計者,在進行按鍵圖像時,一個參考依據。

Summary “Rhetoric” is a process that improves the accuracy of communication, and “Mapping type” is the principle of linking icons with functions; how these two principles are integrated into designing icons used on products deserves in-depth investigation. Currently the control of E-book readers, whether using touch-screens or buttons, is entirely icon-based; therefore, providing accurate and highly recognizable icons for controlling E-book readers has become an important issue. However it was uncertain whether the icons on the existing E-book readers can be easily recognized, whether they are misleading or unclear in any way that might lead to inconvenient control of E-book readers; hence this research is intended to make the icons on E-book readers more recognizable based on the two principles: “Rhetoric” and “Mapping type”. Based on the responses from 34 subjects who were tested for the use of existing E-book readers, it has been discovered that the recognition rate of 3/4 of all icons were inadequate. After surveying 33 subjects, 11 frequently used functions were summarized. Then the “Rhetoric” and “Mapping type” principles with survey results were integrated into design guidelines. Through expert evaluation, one for each principle, 3 for each function, totally 33 redesign icons were selected. They were assessed by 31 subjects. The collected data were analyzed by using confusion matrix, z-test, and Friedman Test. The results indicated that 82% of redesigned icons achieved recognition rates that significantly exceeded the 66.7% recommended by ISO. Therefore it is concluded that the application of “Mapping type” and “Rhetoric” principles into icon design is helpful towards the communication and the design of E-book readers’ icon interfaces. The findings might serve as a reference for developers of E-book readers during their design of icon interfaces.
