A rare case of alveolar soft part sarcoma is reported in this article. The patient was a 13-year-old girl who was brought to the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Department of Dentistry, National Taiwan University Hospital on November 21, 1989. About 2 months before the visit, she has noted a painless tumor at the right side of her tongue. On examination, it was found that the tumor was at the posterior third of the right lateral border of the tongue and about 3 cm in diameter. The mucosa over lying the tumor was smooth but injected and devoid of ulcer. The mass was firm to elastic and well-demarcated from the surrounding tissue. No regional lymph node could be palpated. On November 30, the tumor was excised under general anesthesia. The histopathological diagnosis was alveolar soft part sarcoma. The patient was regularly recalled at the OPD, and no local recurrence or metastasis was found after a follow-up period of more than 1 year.
