本文介紹使用雙面光配向技術製作具有與入射偏振狀態無關的高聚焦效率、可電壓調制聚焦效率的染料摻雜液晶Fresnel lens光學元件(DDLC Fresnel lens);此元件在第一聚焦處的聚焦效果有如一片1/2波板,最大聚焦效率值約為~37%,遠高於原夫瑞奈區板光罩聚焦效率~25.6%,趨近於理論最大值~40.5%;且該元件製程簡易,並具快速反應的特性,這些優良特性使得此元件之應用潛力甚高。

This paper demonstrates a highly efficient, polarization-independent and electrically tunable Fresnel lens based on dye-doped liquid crystal (DDLC) using double-side photoalignment technique. Such a lens functions as a half-wave plate, and this feature could be well preserved under the applied voltage. The primary diffraction efficiency reaches ~37%, which approaches the theoretical limit ~40.5%. For reference, the diffraction efficiency of the used Fresnel zone plate mask is ~25.6%. In addition, the device is simple to fabricate, and has fast switching responses between focusing and defocusing state. Thus, it has high potential for real applications.
