Apparel industry has been facing tremendous pressures from increasing labor costs, shortage of labor and cost down challenges from brands. Consequently, companies required to pay more and more attention to improve production efficiency especially in applying one-piece-flow system. However, clothing production is difficult to evaluate its performance accurately because of its dynamic characteristics. The advantage of one-piece-flow system may still not be fully understood in this industry. This research based on the real system compares the effect of productivity on different bundle sizes in an apparel production line using computer simulation techniques. The result shows that one-piece-flow led to greatest positive effect of average waiting time of parts in buffers and working in progress. Two-piece per bundle shows the greatest throughput.
