Voltage-gated sodium channels of peripheral nerve and pain: A review

Voltage-gated sodium channels; Voltage-gated sodium channels (VGSCs), are crucial for initiating and propagating action potential in neurons, are distributed in dorsal root ganglia cells and involved in the formation of pain. Of the VGSC subtypes, Nav1 .7, Nav1.8, and Nav1.9 are preferentially expressed in the peripheral nervous system. These subtypes are known to be important for conducting nociceptive stimuli, and mutations in these channels are thought to be the underlying cause of a variety of heritable pain diseases. This brief review provides an overview of the current literature on the role of VGSCs in pain generation, and it summarizes recent study results.

電壓門控鈉離子通道類型中主要有Nav1.7,Nav1.8和Nav1.9存在於周邊神經系統。
