在北魏時代楊衒之的《洛陽伽藍記》和唐代鄭懷古的《博異志》中均記載了以血待客的民間故事，此乃古代血祭儀式之遺跡。如今猶可稽考的文化意涵，約有以下諸項：〈一〉民間飲血禳災之風俗〈二〉古代以血勵志之禮制〈三〉增益盟誓詛咒之制約〈四〉強化厭勝巫術之威力〈五〉告神祈求之儀式〈六〉破解邪術之禁制〈七〉展現宗教供養之虔誠〈八〉道家提煉仙丹之藥引

In the Northern Wei Dynasty Yang Xuan- zhi's ＂Luo Yang Qie Lan Ji＂ and the Tang Dynasty Zheng Huai-Gu's ＂Bo Yi Zhi＂ are recorded in the folk tales, Use the blood to entertain guests, this is the remains of ancient blood sacrifice ceremony. Nowadays, the cultural meaning of the study is about the following: (1). A folk customs drink blood can be disaster. (2). In ancient strengthen the ambition by the blood. (3). Strengthen the oath or curse of binding. (4). Strengthen the power of witchcraft (5). Pray for the ritual of the gods. (6). Crack the power of magic. (7). To show the support of religious devotion. (8). Taoism refining elixir of the drug cited.
