以學生為中心的大學評鑑大三學生對學校滿意度的探討

Student-centered College Evaluation: A Study of Student Satisfaction in Taiwan

摘要


從以全人發展為目標的大學通識教育的觀點出發,學校對學生的影響不僅僅限於正式課程,非正式課程(各種活動與社團等)、潛在課程(如校園民主的氛圍、各種規則的制訂與執行)、學習資源、環境景觀設備等,莫不影響學生在學期間的學習與發展。做為使用者與受教者的學生,對於學校所提供的整體教育環境的滿意程度如何?不同類型院校的學生對學校的滿意度有何異同?獲得教育部「發展國際一流大學及頂尖研究中心計畫」第一階段補助學校的學生,對自己學校各方面的滿意度是否也高於其他學校?學生對學校各項措施的滿意度,又如何影響其對學校整體之評價?本文運用「臺灣高等教育資料庫」九十二年度30,272名大三學生問卷調查資料,將大學校園教育環境分為十二個向度,探討學生對學校的滿意度。 統計分析結果發現,大學生對於學校各面向教育措施的滿意度偏低;若以2.5為滿意度的及格水準,十二個面向中,除師生關係、圖書館、行政態度與校園環境景觀等四項外,其他八個面向都未達及格標準,又以宿舍及校園生活機能兩項最受學生抱怨。公立大學、公立技職院校、私立大學、及私立技職院校學生對於學校各面向環境的滿意度各有高下,打破「聲望排序高的學校,學生滿意度亦高」的刻板印象,我们以「差異模式」解釋此一現象。相對的,學生對就讀學校推薦意願的高低卻又完全符應四類學校的階層排序,我們以「合法化模式」來理解此一現象。總結本研究之發現,課程、師生關係、圖書資源、文化活動與學生權益等五大面向是所有大三學生所重視,且各類大學校院都待加強;而校園生活機能的提升、環境景觀的維護則是私立校院學生所特別期待的面向。

Student satisfaction is an indicator of students' needs and their perception of an institution's performance in responding to these needs. Student satisfaction, therefore, is often considered as a measure of an institution's effectiveness and conduciveness to student development. Using data from the 2003 Survey of Taiwan Higher Education on a sample of 30,272 college juniors, this study investigates students' satisfaction on 12 dimensions of campus environment. Results show that college juniors have relatively low satisfaction with their campus evironment, with dormitory and convenience of campus (such as food and other daily subsistence) scored the lowest. Comparing student satisfaction among public and private universities as well as public and private polytechnics, we find that the ranking of average global satisfaction for the four types of institutions are the same as their prestige ranking, but rankings for different dimensions of campus environment vary widely. Finally, results show that curriculum, teacher-student interaction, multicultural activities, library and student rights related affairs are the dimensions significantly contribute to students' global satisfaction. Policy implications are discussed.
