The instruction of dyadic data and actor-partner interdependence model in sport and exercise science

The importance of dyadic data and actor-partner interdependence model (APIM) is well established in social and behavioral science. However, sport scientists have paid much less attention on dyadic data and its analysis strategy. The main purpose of this article is to provide a basic introduction of dyadic data and APIM. It started from the key features of dyadic data, nonindependence and the nested data structure. Following by the introduction of APIM and how it works in indistinguishable and distinguishable dyads. The author also discussed how dyadic data analysis has been applied in sport psychology and the direction for the future study.
